Following overnight heavy rainfall, the Kodiveri Dam near Gobichettipalayam in Erode district began discharging around 1,000 cubic feet per second of water to regulate levels.
The rain also caused waterlogging on the Erode–Sathyamangalam Road (near Kavindapadi-Ayyampalayam), making the road unsafe for vehicles.
Why this matters: Dam management and flood risk are important for both urban and rural safety. Locals should be aware of such discharges and avoid vulnerable routes during high flow conditions.
Safety tip: If you’re travelling in those rain-affected zones, check local traffic / water-logging advisories. Avoid low-lying roads near rivers or canals when discharge is high
